Summers are officially upon us guys and though this means the onset of the mango season our skin suffers the most. Thanks to an increase in the temperature, combined with sun exposure and pollution, it becomes crucial for us to spend a few extra minutes taking care of our skin. I know how difficult finding the right product for a particular skin type can get and well, let’s be honest it gets a bit confusing too especially when there are so many products available in the market. That’s when I prefer going back to our roots, the tried and tested home skincare hacks for summer, ingredients of which can be found in all our kitchens.

Out of all the ingredients “Aloe Vera” is an exceptional home remedy to protect your skin against the summer sun. Aloe Vera is packed with Vitamin C, E and it also has anti-inflammatory properties. I simply prefer using refrigerated fresh Aloe Vera to be applied on the skin before going out or after you are back from the sun exposure. It not only soothes the skin but provides an exceptional barrier against the sun. It can also be applied beneath your make-up, so this is a total win-win with just one ingredient.

Next home remedy is going to not only add a healthy glow to your skin but it will also take care of that nasty tan that you are worried about. I simply mash 1-2 slices of papaya and add few drops of lemon juice to it. After mixing it well, I apply it on my face and neck as a mask that can be washed off after 15-20 minutes. You will see how hydrated your skin feels, simply because this contains Vitamin A and Papain enzyme.

Amla is packed with anti-oxidants and Vitamin C which automatically makes it a miraculous summer skin care ingredient. You can either drink fresh amla juice or mix the juice with few drops of honey and apply it all over your face and neck as a quick 15 minutes’ mask. You will instantly notice your blemishes have reduced and your skin has a fresh glow.

Cucumber has a natural cooling effect and hence they are the best when it comes to treating a sunburn. Simply cut a few pieces of cucumber and refrigerate them for a few minutes. Just as you use ice-cubes, rub the pieces in circular motions on your skin for that immediate cooling effect.

Yes girls, it’s that easy to prep your skin for the summer days ahead. Remember to stick to as many natural home remedies as possible as these have no side effects at all and at the same time, they provide our skin with raw goodness of these ingredients. These are some of my personally tried and tested home hacks that have helped me tackle the sun while giving my skin the care it deserves. I would also urge all of you to keep your body well hydrated and to carry a hat whenever possible. Remember, it all starts with healthy skin and it is always a combination of proper sleep, good nutritious food and natural remedies that work wonders.

I hope your skin has the best summer ahead!!
