World Health Day : Prevent anti-ageing

You are still quite young when you’re in 20’s but it is the time to take your skin seriously and nurture your complexion. It is time to re-think your skincare routine and maintain it.  But the main question is from where to start?

There’s the anti-aging thing, which many skincare experts say is very important to start sooner than later. Women should start taking the initiative about anti-ageng in their 20s. Study states that in the age of 25, our skin’s two structural proteins—collagen and elastin, starts declining. Collagen keeps your skin firm, resilient and taunt, whereas elastin provides flexibility and allow the skin to stretch out and snap back to its place. Your diet matters—so do exercise.

It is very important for our body to stay hydrated so drink a lot of fresh water daily, at least try to consume two or three litres of water. Go for fresh green vegetables and food that contains fiber in it. Also, do a bit of exercise every day. In your 20’s you must follow 80-20 rule, in which you need to you manage 80 per cent of your nutrition and 20 per cent of your exercise for an alkaline lifestyle.

Never underestimate the power of SPF

SPF is a must! No matter the weather or season, even on a cloudy day because UV rays are always around. UV rays can reflect off through some surfaces which can also be damaging as direct exposure. Sun plays a major role in skin ageing and contributes to premature skin ageing. So, you should think about it on a daily basis and protect your skin from those harmful rays irrespective of the season. So, the key for a healthy skin is daily use of SPF products.

Opt for oil-free products during the warmer months

Everybody likes and hydrated skin. It is important that you use a moisturizer with humectants which help the skin to absorb and retain moisture. So while selecting your cream and foundation, always remember oil isn’t always your friend and as an alternative you can go for hydrating ingredients that can go well on your skin.

Start your skincare regimen

You need to re-plan your daily skincare regimen at the age of 20 as your skin has different needs. Some people in their 20’s follow the same routine and products which they used in their teenage. You might not see it but your skin at this stage of life your oil glands starts shrinking. Many anti acne products that were effective once can cause flaking, irritation and redness. Start from basic skincare regimen like cleansing, toning, moisturizing and sunblock. Just consult a skincare specialist for the perfect product to include in it.

Don’t overdo it

It is great to have prevention of skin health but always remember over doing things on your skin can also damage your skin. It has been noticed that there’s an influx of sensitive skin in patients that are in their 20’s. This happens because of skin care products that are too harsh. People sometimes are so focused on preventing their skin that they overcompensate and harm their skin. Some products that are too strong shouldn’t be used every day such as exfoliating. You should just exfoliate once or twice a week.
