Fashion Stereotypes

How Loose fitting dresses are gaining momentum in this era?

With summer approaching and the international acceptance of all body types and shapes being accepted and the “I’m perfect” campaign it is high time that we as Indians also stop chasing the size zero body type and celebrate womanhood by making each one of us (girl, women) feel comfortable in her skin and confident in her flight! Hence me and my fellow designers in our community have started creating Astructured dresses which not only feel good this summer but also help your skin breathe –they make perfect for your day and night looks promoting body positivity.

Rather than altering your body to fit a piece of clothing, why not fit the clothing to your body’s comfort.

In my view point, fashion and comfort have always gone hand-in-hand to look fashionable you need to feel confident and to feel confident you need to be comfortable and to feel comfortable your garment need to fit you like a sleeve and vice a versa. Altering your body to fit a garment may last momentarily but to stay fashionable lifelong altering the garment to your body type only seems a deemed fit.

Not just nature-friendly textiles, this is an era of fluidity of textiles.

If you look at Pooja Shroff’s Spring Summer Collection’19 – Plis n Dentelle – it’s all about cuts, fluidity of textiles and styles because if the fabric falls well on a customer’s body it automatically enhances the silhouettes making her look trendy and a fashion winner!

Oversized is undisputedly youngsters favourite.

Today’s youth wants to invest in good quality long-term fashion wear something that they not only wear today but also use after a few years with the whole sneaker trend coming into vogue. Comfort wear is only re-defining today’s fashion industry. Gone long are the days of short dresses and tight waist belts, easy-breezy silhouettes with the multi layering approach accessorized with chic cross-body bags is a very stylish yet young look that we as designers suggest our young buyers to sport.

Revolution of silhouettes over the years.

Trends a few years ago, were all about shift dresses, bodycons or bandage dresses but over the years customers have been coming and requesting for stylish drapes, butterfly sleeves and multipurpose comfort wear. I, as a designer, thus incorporated this need into my latest line Autumn Winter Collection’18 – Bandi – by merging stylish sleeves and asymmetrical cuts thus creating an array of options from maxi dresses (could also be used as comfort gowns) to oversized night out options for any age group. Play with colors as summers are here.

From Mango yellows to icy blues to mint greens, summers are the time when one can play with the colors and experiment. Pop colors like purples, cobalt blue, and onion pinks are a big hit this season and vibrant colors can be worn on a day and without a doubt can be used as office wear and a continued party in night. Also it feels good to people around you to see pop colors in middle of cliché summer light colors.
